Experience

Contract Software Engineer

Univeristy of Oxford, Mathematics Department

I designed an developed a browser-based game for a citizen science initiative for the Department of Mathematics at the University of Oxford. The game, Spotting Patterns, will be launching at the end of 2020 to support current research in Mathematical Biology, specifically the modelling of tumor-immune cells.

In building this game, I implemented complex restrictions on user input and optimised algorithms with respect to time, achieving high game performance and a friendly user experience. I worked with multiple front-end frameworks to deliver the requested specifications. I am currently developing additional functionality to randomise the difficulty of the game's restrictions, allowing for a broader range of data to be collected.

July 2020 - Present

Quantitative Research Intern

QOMPLX

I worked as a Quantitative Research intern for Q:INSURANCE at QOMPLX. In my role, I examined the competitive environment and industry trends of an international market to support the potential entry of a new insurance model. I also cleaned, contextualised and enriched Big Data by conducting in-depth research into sectors affecting the insured, providing a foundation for the model. I presented these findings to senior management.

July 2019 - October 2019

Lead Software Engineer

Varsity Careers Hub

I led the technological development of graduate recruitment start-up, Varsity Careers Hub. This included full stack development, DevOps and database architecture for their web app. I balanced the differing requirements of multiple stakeholders by devising and implementing a new process to analyse their priorities. Collaborated closesly with cofounders to grow the userbase five-fold and introduce new clients to the platform. The company has since received investment.

July 2019 - October 2019

Software Engineering Intern

Gresham Tech

In this role, I worked with behaviour-driven development principles in an Agile environment. I facilitated the migration of the company's test-tracking system by designing a code-editing program that moved, referenced and updated ID tags throughout the entire company's entire codebase. I also developed a program that would transfer custom Java annotations of test methods into test resports during the Maven Build Cycle. This resulted in improved efficiency of the company's management and development cycle.
